Presidents Notes… Sept., 28, 2017 Hello from Hanford, Calif.

As mentioned by our Editor’s post we had a very productive Corporate Governing Board meeting at the Kings County Fairgrounds in Hanford.  We had 22 of our 48 chapters in attendance, which included 7 new chapter representatives. The first half of the day was spent working on WMHA business, passing a balanced budget for the coming year, and Chapter issues. The second half of the day was spent working with our Captains (new and returning) on the up coming Indio Rally. We will be celebrating our 30th year at the fairgrounds and plan on having hand dipped ice cream and cake to mark this special occasion.

There are some open Captain positions available
• Rally Photographer (for 1 year only)
• Donations Captain
• WMHA Secretary (elected position)
• Decorations Captain
Please contact me if you would like to volunteer for one of the positions.

We also had some time for relaxation as Christine and I met several other couples at the Superior Ice Cream Shop.

I would like to give a big thank you to all those members who took time away from their busy schedules to attend the Hanford meeting…THANK YOU!

The Indio Rally theme is Viva Las Vegas and starts on January 10, 2018. See you there!

Hello from Osawatomie, Kansas

FMCA HQ’s has been working hard to develop a more friendly shopping experience for members.  They are excited to announce that the online store now has a fresh, sleeker look to go along with the all new line of merchandise!  Please check it out at

In an effort to improve our operations Chris Smith, FMCA Exec. Dir., has made a few more Office changes, which are effective immediately:

2)     Dan Ball will assume Penny’s membership duties, while also helping us on the marketing front. He will now be our Director of Membership and Marketing.
3)     Sarah Stolz will be moving full time into the chapters department.
4)     Penny and her gang will be moving down to Round Bottom. This will include Penny, Dianna, Kathy A., Christy and Sarah. This will allow us to expand membership down the line.

About the Picture…

Osawatomie, 61 miles southwest of Kansas City, is a town of about 4,500 residents and gets its name from two near by rivers, the Osage and Potawatomie.  The 7,000 sq. ft. Queen Ann style house (in the picture) is known as the Mills House, and was built in 1903 for oil man William Mills for $49,000.  The house is mostly restored and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  The RV park we stayed is across the street from the House.

Presidents Notes…
July 22, 2017
Hello from St. Louis, IL.

This week there has been office changes at FMCA HQ’s. Chris Smith, Exec. Dir., announced on Friday that Jason Gabbard was promoted to IT Director. Jason has been doing an outstanding job in the IT Dept. for a number of years, and it comes as no surprise to me of his promotion. Congratulations Jason. Another change was made on Friday, this time to our department structure. Chris announced, and also effective immediately, that our sales team will be a separate department from our communications department. John Renda currently heads up the sales dept. with the title of Sales Director. John will operate the Sale Department as it’s own division within FMCA. Congratulations John.

On August 9-12 Christine and I will be attending the Midwest Area Rally in Amana, Iowa. This is really a nice fun rally which comes 3-4 weeks after the Convention. You can find information about the rally at and click on the Chapter/Areas tab.

We are taking the long way to Amana Rally. Last night Christine and I went on a Dinner Cruise on the Mississippi River. Food was good, music was good, the sights were good (see picture below), and the humidity was high! We had a great time.

The WMHA registration sheet for the 30th Annual Indio Rally will be available online this coming week. Everyone will be notified by an e-blast. The registration will also be available in the Oct., Nov., and Dec. FMC magazine. We will also be featuring HAND DIPPED ICE CREAM before Thursday night entertainment.

We are staying at the Casino Queen RV park across from the Arch on the Illinois side. They give discounts to FMCA members.
Everyone stay safe on your summer travels.

Notes from our President – July 3

Notes From Our President

July 3, 2017
The June membership reports have been released and what a month it was! End of month we have 73,032 members. The net gain for the month was 1,169. Our tracking records goes back 21 years and we cannot find a gain higher than this month. So, it’s possible this was the highest monthly gain in FMCA history!

Notes from our President

Hello ALL:
I’m going to try something new on the Western Area Website ( With the help of our WebMaster, Warren James, I’m going to start posting a Blog. I plan on writing on various topics, such as; FMCA Governing Board matters, and any items of interest that may concern those of us in the Western Area. I’ll try to post once a week, but sometimes it could be more, or it could be less.

With all that being said …Welcome to the Inaugural Western Area Presidents Blog…

June 26, 2017

Hello from Boardman, OR.

Christine and I have just left the NorthWest Area Rally which was held in Longview, WA.  Kathie Balogh, NW Area President, and her staff really put on a nice rally for about 325 rigs.  I would like to thank the 32 rigs from the Western Area for their attendance and support of this rally.  Next year they plan on holding their Rally in Coos Bay, OR.

Please save the date for the 30th Annual Western Area Indio Rally…January 10-14, 2018.  The theme for the Rally is Viva Las Vegas.  It’s guaranteed that Elvis will be in the house!

We are on our way to attend the FMCA convention being held in Indianapolis, IN on July 12-15.  Currently there are over 1,400 rigs registered and the number keeps going up.  At the Governing Board Meeting we will be electing new National Officers.  Running for President is Jon Walker, Sr VP is Rett Porter (and I’ve heard there is a second person, Jack Mayberry, running for this position), treasurer is Frank Taber and John Reynolds, and for Secretary is Gaye Young.

There are also three amendments that are being voted on and one of those is revising our Articles of Incorporation which would allow “towables” to be members of our Association.

As you may have heard there was a new member benefit being worked on between FMCA and Verizon which was a special rate on an unlimited wireless data plan.  It was unfortunate that Verizon pulled out on our agreed upon member offering. But rest assured we will find more member benefits that will create the best member benefit portfolio we have ever offered.
